Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been
ranked dead last in a performance ranking the three Kenyan cities; Nairobi,
Kisumu and Mombasa.
According to the latest poll by
research firm Trends & Insights for Africa (TIFA), Kisumu Governor Anyang’
Nyong’o scored a 56 per cent rating which translates to a C+ followed closely
by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, who managed a score of 53 per cent
translating to a C.
In the poll that had 500
respondents, Sonko was a distant third, with a score of 44 per cent giving him
a D+ in the County Score Card.
In Nairobi, residents cited poor
business environment, poor road maintenance as well as garbage management.
Mombasa residents lamented blocked
sewers, poor garbage collection and harassment from county officials.
Over in Kisumu, the residents
bemoaned poor sewer system and poor public health services.
The survey sought to
check county governments’ performance in the Big Four Agenda and focused
on the country’s cities; Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.
